Sugar's Story...
Meet Sugar. She is an 8 year old, 40 pound dachshund / catahoula mix. Sugar's owner is rehoming her because both of her daughters with grandchildren have moved back home and there are 9 people in the house now and they just don't have time for her anymore. She is a very friendly girl who loves everyone - babies to seniors. She prefers to be a lap dog where she can be close and get lots of attention. She is crate trained and housebroken. Sugar was once an inside girl, but is now living totally outside and would LOVE to be an inside girl again. Spice is already neutered, but will have to have her vaccinations updated for her new family. Sugar has a sister named Spice. It would be awesome if they could be adopted together, but can be rehomed separately. Wouldn't you love to add some Sugar and Spice in your family? Or maybe just some more sugar to sweeten your world? $80 rehome fee. call Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender at 225-366-7277 or email pass@caabr.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sugar, a Baton Rouge Dachshund/Catahoula Leopard Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Catahoula Leopard Dog for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Dachshund/Catahoula Leopard Dog dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Catahoula Leopard Dog breeders who help with Dachshund/Catahoula Leopard Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
