Meet Jax, an adorable, playful Japanese Chin!! This little guy is about a year old and still very much a playful puppy. He has settled into his foster home and is doing wonderfully!

Jax was purchased by an elderly man in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, he was suffering from dementia and had to go into a nursing home leaving Jax with no one to care for him. The man's neighbors stepped in and cared for Jax, they called us because they did not want to bring this little guy to the shelter. Luckily, we had a volunteer who was able to take him and she quickly drove into Brooklyn and picked him up.

Jax is now the happy, playful puppy he should be. He adores his toys and loves to flip them into the air and run around squeaking them. He also loves chasing the tennis ball around the house, slipping and sliding as he tries his best to catch it. He keeps his foster family laughing and entertained!! He also loves to sit on your lap and cuddle, once he has gotten his puppy energy out! He is really a loving little guy!

His foster family did notice he was having some difficulty when trying to sleep. He is now on medication, potassium bromide, (which is very inexpensive) and he is doing wonderfully. After 3 days he relaxed and is sleeping peacefully with no more episodes. The vet feels he can be weaned off of it once he is in a permanent home and has some stability.

Jax is crate trained, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Now all he needs is a home to call his own.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jax, a Raritan Japanese Chin dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Japanese Chin for sale in Raritan, or seeking a Japanese Chin dog from a breeder in Raritan.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Raritan already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Raritan breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Japanese Chin breeders who help with Japanese Chin rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Raritan paves the way for another one to be saved.
