Shilo is a male, dark brown pure-bred dachshund. He's approximately 12 years old; weighs 20 lbs and has no impairments, other than he can't navigate stairs easily. He's been neutered and has had all shots & vaccines. His name is Shilo and he has been well cared for by my mother who unfortunately has to go into a nursing home permanently. I cannot care for him despite him being a sweet and loving dog. Ideally his owner would be an elderly person like my mother. Her sleeps about 20 hours a day, is house-trained and needs very little exercise other than going in & out to go to the bathroom. I haven't been able to locate all his vet records but do have his certificate of rabies and vaccination papers. He is leashed trained but doesn't like to walk far. He rides well in the car but she has always transported him loose not in a kennel. He has never been formally trained and is rather spoiled but comes to his name and knows the word "no". He gets along with other dogs, cats and children really well. He will bark at strangers or if someone knocks atthe door but will quiet down when told to. I've never believed in giving up one's dog for any reason but in this case there is no alternative that I can see. If you can help please contact me.
