My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there,

Ally McBeagle here. Actually Ally Mcbeagle w/ a little basset in me here. But not to worry. I have some basset like paws, and you can see it in my nose. But I am a smaller girl at 24 pounds and about 13” at the shoulder.

Foster dad says I am just a mellow little girl, who likes to be loved. Not sure on snuggling since I don’t get on the furniture. I am pretty laid back generally, and if nothing is going on, I will just lay in my dog bed or on the big dog pillow.

I get along great with my foster sisters. I just hang out with the older one, and try to get the younger one to play, but she only plays when she is in the mood.

Foster dad plays “boo” with me and I get the zoomies and run around the yard. And sometimes in the mornings I am excited to be awake (foster dad loves that !! NOT) and do the zoomies then too.

We went to visit some friends who have a lab mix which was about three times my size, but it didn’t bother me. I kept playbowing and putting my feet up on him to play, but that boy just didn’t get it.

I met a cat there too, sniffed it, wagged my tail, then walked away.

I am crated during the day, and don’t seem to mind it at all. At night I sleep in my dog bed or on a blanket on the floor.

We have a fenced in yard here, and that might be better for me. Foster dad does put me on a tie out, and I seem to do all right.

Foster dad thinks I led a sheltered life in my previous home. If you happen to pick me up, I get tense and nervous. And walks are totally not my thing. I will freeze and refuse to walk as soon as you put pressure on the leash.

I do all right on car rides, but also seem pretty nervous. I just sit on the back seat, looking around, and can’t seem to relax.

I learned the routines here pretty quickly. Like where to go when we get fed, and where the treat jar is of course. Though foster dad says I am the pickiest beagle he has ever seen when it comes to treats.

And I enjoy just hanging out in the yard, sniffing around, or sitting and watching the world go by.

Overall foster dad says I am just a pretty laid back little girl, who seems to have some play bottled up inside me, if I can find someone that wants to. He says I am low maintenance, and sometimes doesn’t even realize I am here.
