Tucker ($200 Fee)'s Story...
Tucker is a super sweet boy that craves attention and truly deserves a home for Christmas. This boy has never had a family to love him until he entered his foster home and now he needs a permanent home that will continue to show him how special he is. Won't you consider adding Tucker to your family for Christmas?

Tucker is 7-8 years old and has had a rough life. He wandered up to a house as a stray extremely thin. He was covered in scars and had obviously been on a chain his entire life. In his foster home we have found that Tucker is so happy to just be able to run around in a fenced yard. He gets along well with other dogs and seems to do great with cats and small children. He has gained a lot of weight and is really looking great. He weighs about 50 pounds now. He has started trying to play with his foster mom and the other dogs. He is even asking for tummy rubs.

He is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He has been neutered and is up to date on his vaccinations. He is not house trained yet and has guarded his food from other dogs. He does not protect his food from humans. He does pull on a leash some, but does walk on a leash pretty well. He has a significant scar on his right front ankle and is missing some toenails on that foot from being caught in a chain at some point. He is also missing several teeth and many of his teeth are worn, probably from chewing on his chain or rocks.

We are looking for a home for Tucker to retire in and enjoy the rest of his days. He still has a lot of spunk and is loving life now. He would prefer a fenced yard and needs someone patient to house train him. He is so pleased to be free from his chain that he just loves every day. Please consider adopting this sweet guy and giving him the second chance at life that he deserves. (AE)

We are asking a reduced adoption fee for Tucker to help get him adopted. Please contact us for more information.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
Pooches & Purrs Cooperative is a group of rescues and individual rescuers that are working hard to find loving homes for the dogs, cats, kittens and puppies that find their way into our care through no fault of their own. Each individual or group has several wonderful dogs In Tennessee, Alabama or Kentucky looking for homes! All of them are completely vetted and neutered/spayed (if age appropriate) and on heartworm protection. All of them come with complete medical records. Their adoption fee of $450 covers their complete age appropriate vetting and heartworm preventative as well as their transportation to your area.
Our rescues don't have an actual shelter building in the New England area. Due to this it is not always possible to meet them prior to their adoption. At times, a dog may be in foster care in New England and their bio will clearly be marked as such so you will know. These southern dogs & cats are brought up to their new owners weekly! We have a 14 day money back guarantee and the pet can be rehomed appropriately if things don't work out. Each group tries hard to get good matches in your homes so that everyone has a happy life together! To date the cooperative has placed over a two thousand dogs and puppies, cats and kittens in loving New England homes! Each group has many, many, references of happy adopters up in your area that can fill you in on their experience. Just email and they can pass along that information for your convenience. Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tucker ($200 Fee), a Harrisonburg Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Harrisonburg, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Harrisonburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisonburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisonburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisonburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
