My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing TONYA! A very pretty, petite, and super soft plush coat girl. Due to unfortunate circumstances, by no fault of her own, her owners since puppyhood could not continue to care for her. Tonya turned 6 years old on May 15th - the same day she was surrendered to a shelter. Not a happy way to spend her birthday. You'd never guess her age with her spritely personality, good health and great teeth! Within the first week at her foster home, her character and bonding nature blossomed. She loves to be close to her foster mom, but not overly needy - just the right amount of independence. With careful introduction, and time to build trust, Tonya has proven to be good with other dogs - playing well with her foster brothers and a variety of other dogs in doggie daycare. She can be a bit pushy, and likes to have human attention and toys to herself and doesn't hesitate letting the other dogs know. Tonya would be okay placed with another male dog who is a good match for her. However, with her resource guarding behavior she would be best in a home without small children. She is crate-trained, housebroken and has not exhibited any separation anxiety behaviors. If you are interested in helping and fostering or providing a loving, forever home, please complete an application at http://www.northwestgermanshepherd.org. The adoption donation ranges from $150 to $450 and is based on the age of the dog. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care, and adoption of our dogs. Adoption fees may be tax deductible as we are a 501(c)(3) organization. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations and are microchipped.
