My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

location: Norton, KS
Ollie was born in Arizona, then a year ago moved to Kansas with his owners and his housemate, Dassi. When the family had a second child, they decided they were not able to give the dogs the time they needed so they looked for rescue to take them. Ollie loves to travel in a car and is very well behaved while riding. He is a "substantial" boy at 19 pounds; a rather pink fella with grey/brown spots and a well established “farmer’s tan” - pasty chest and all - although this is leveling out some as he does not wear a shirt much of the time in his foster home. Ollie is way less intense than Dassi, he really doesn’t run anywhere except to the door if he thinks he is going for a walk. He doesn't get excited about much, although the site of a ball will drive him into a frenzy of activity. Ollie will chase a ball or other toy that is thrown, but his grasp on bringing it back is still rather weak. He will sometimes bring it and drop it at his fostermom's feet to initiate a throw game, though. Ollie loves going for walks but this is sometimes hard for him, as his feet hurt to the point he is lame. This appears to be largely because he will sometimes chew at his pads, nibbling bits of skin off of them. Ollie does not like to walk on grass, gravel or sand, preferring smooth concrete surfaces, so walking with Ollie can be slow - although he has improved on speed as he has dropped a pound or so. His skin has improved but he still gets occasional scrapes from scratching; he has no hair to protect him from himself. Ollie is a little big for a "lap" dog, but he likes napping next to his fostermom on the couch. He could stand to lose 2-3 more pounds, then he might fit better on a lap - but he probably won't speed up, as his really "unhurried" behavior appears to just be part of his really "laid back" personality. For more pix of Ollie, please click here.
