Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Callie is an approximately 6 month old Dutch Shepherd or Dutch Shepherd mix. She was found as a stray in the Lockhart, TX area and was pulled from the high kill shelter there by a local trainer. She is an active and spunky dog and has mannerisms very typical of the breed. She is EXTREMELY friendly and loving to people and is in constant motion! Callie is very cautious around other dogs initially and will actually bark and growl when she first sees another dog if she's on leash. She does best with dogs that are either smaller than her or are not very pushy at their initial meeting. She is currently in a home with 9 other dogs ranging from a 5 lb chihuahua (who she adores) to an 85 lb GSD mix and Pit bull. She interacts wonderfully and has no problems with any of them, although she is obviously uncomfortable at times when her Malinois foster brother gets a little too "in your face" with his play. She recovers quickly though and will go right back to playing in a split second. Callie also loves toys and the kiddie pool in the backyard. When she wears out, which isn't often, she will simply lay in the kiddie pool surveying her surroundings. She will also jump in the pool at any time and try to dig her way to the bottom emptying the pool and washing the patio in the process! Callie has been going through obedience lessons at her foster home. She has not been there long, so she is currently working on loose leash walking. She responds wonderfully to training and is extremely smart! After only one lesson she seems to completely understand what is expected of her and will walk closely by your side. Callie would do best in a home that is familiar with the energy and intelligence that is characteristic of the Dutch Shepherd breed. She would also do best in a home without small children as she is likely to knock them over with her current puppy behavior.
