My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a motivational walking or running buddy? Someone who will wake up with her tail wagging, smile on her face, encouraging you to head out the door, leash in hand? Then meet Bailey, a 1-2 year old golden mix who's full of energy and happiness!

Bailey was found as a stray in the midwest. On her first night in her foster home, her tail didn't stop wagging! In fact, the only time she's not wagging her tail is when something outside catches her attention and she pauses for about 5 seconds. Bailey is so happy to be in a home! She loves to sleep on her foster parents bed, but will get down into her own doggy bed when asked. She made quick friends with her two canine foster sisters and enjoys roughhousing with her more playful foster sister. When the resident dog says enough is enough, Bailey obliges and quits trying to play with her. She then moves on to other interesting things such as looking out the windows at all of the neighborhood fun!

Don't let that shiny, soft, jet black fur fool you. Even if Bailey isn't purebred Golden Retriever, her heart and personality are pure gold! Bailey is around 45 pounds and could stand to gain 5 pounds or so.

Bailey doesn't know a stranger and loves everyone she meets! She's in a home with a 4 1/2 year old dog-savvy boy and she's very gentle with him, following him around the house and playing with him when he initiates. She hasn't bothered any of the kid toys in the house, but to be on the safe side, her foster family has been kenneling her while they are gone until they get to know her better. She does fine in the kennel and is excited to come out when they do come home! Bailey has also met the resident cat and seems to be fine with her. Bailey doesn't seem to know any tricks just yet but she's learning how to "sit" for a treat. Bailey is also learning that she shouldn't put her paws on the counter or kitchen table. A quick "no" and redirection seem to be working to break that habit.

Bailey is looking for an active forever family who will include her on walks, runs, hikes, camping trips, and/or trips to the dog park. She doesn't need to have a canine companion, just some people who will love and care for her forever!

If you are interested in this super friendly, fun loving girl, please fill out an application and one of our GRFR volunteers will contact you soon!
