Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Coal is as cute as a button, and so loving. He wants to be your constant companion even when settling down for the night.
He is a 1-2 year old Flat Coat Retriever mix with silky soft luxurious fur. At 46 pounds, he is easy to walk on a leash. He loves to go for rides and prefers the shotgun seat, even if he has to share it with a foster sibling.
Brought in as a stray, he is learning what it means to be part of a home and a settled pack. He is discovering toys and is gradually learning to share and play tug of war. His foster siblings are showing him how to play. He is also showing interest in balls and has brought some back during the Chuck-it sessions with his foster siblings. And he is the first in line to be rewarded with a treat, using his gentle mouth.
He loves it when we call him by “Coal Puppy.” His entire body wags with happiness. And that means that he is great at recall, if he ever gets more than 10 feet away from you.
Coal does not bolt or try to run away. Life is too good now to try another one except with a loving forever family.
He would be best in a single dog family or with another confident, settled, and more alpha dog. He absolutely loves children, small or large. He does not show prey instinct, so would probably be good with kitties.
Coal will need some training beyond just doing a sit, particularly in his continued adjustment into a normal, domesticated pack.
