My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ADOPT ONLY WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

Cora is a wonderfully sweet, vocal girl. She loves to “talk” and will woo-woo herself right into your heart. Her luck finally changed for the better when Good Samaritans took her in after finding her abandoned and tied outside of a hardware store. They were unable to care for her and brought her to the local shelter where we were notified and thus able to rescue her.

Cora enjoys walks and her fosters are working with her typical Husky tendency to pull. She is already responding to corrections. While not food aggressive with people she is a little protective when her foster brother comes near her food dish. This is perfectly normal being she is in a new environment but, for some as yet unexplained reason, she likes to tip over her food bowl and eat from the floor.

Cora does well with other dogs and appears to be cat friendly, although caution is always recommended. She is also great with children. Like most Huskies, Cora prefers to be with her humans and likes to sit curled up with them on the sofa.

Her foster family is working on crate training and even now she will tolerate the crate in small increments of time. In a short while we fully expect she will not need a crate (the vast majority of Huskies do not) once she has proven herself in understanding the house rules.

Cora is Heartworm positive and SHRF has started her on what the Veterinary community calls the “slow kill” treatment protocol. Since this method is actually easier on the dog but takes many months it is highly likely she will be adopted before finishing the treatment. In this case, it will be up to the adopter to continue the regimen, or, under a Veterinarians care, administer Immiticide (a much stronger heartworm treatment). Cora is young and otherwise healthy so we expect a full recovery as long as the treatment is continued.

Aside from the Heartworm, Cora is healthy, spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on her shots. She’s had a tough beginning and deserves a shot at a happy, loving, forever home. She is sure to repay that with a lifetime of loyalty and affection so why not fill out an adoption application on our web site, WWW.SIBERRESCUE.COM, today.
