My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There are no words to really describe the beauty and charm of this little girl, and with the cooler temps coming in the near future, she has decided her job is lap warmer. Missey love to be with her favorite person as much possible. Missey had a personal flight with a personal attendant to help her arrive into rescue!

AGE: Estimated to be about 12 years young

SIZE: 19 lbs and 13 inches tall

TEMPERAMENT: Missey is very gentle and a bit shy until she is comfortable with new people or new situations. She will seek out her person for comfort.

DOGS: Missey gets along with all her Sheltie buddies in her foster home. She stands her ground when it time for a treat, but no aggression.

CATS: The cats rule, and Missey pays no attention to them here.

KIDS: Missey is not comfortable around smaller children. A home with no children, or calm, gentle children 12 or older would be best.

FENCE: A secure wood, chain link or vinyl fence that completely surrounds the yard is preferred. We will consider a home without a fence if the adopter will commit to always having Missey on a leash when outside, for her lifetime (as required per our adoption contract for all our dogs when not in a securely fenced area)

LEASH MANNERS: Missey loves to go for leash walks, the perfect little lady that she is.

HOUSE-TRAINED: Missey had no accidents here, and always goes out with the rest of the gang.

CRATE-TRAINED: Unknown. Missey has free run of the house in her foster home. She has decided her favorite place is the recliner chair.

BARKING: Missey will voice her opinion when the others do, and the best is the vacuum. She feels that she needs to help Winston herd it.

HEALTH: No known health issues. Missey had a dental with extractions when she came into rescue.

This little girl just likes to be with her one person. She has even learned to share a bed at night with not only her foster mom, but a cat as well. The staff at the vet clinic all fell in love with her!

***The Sheltie's bio explains the type of home that will best meet that Sheltie's needs, and indicates if a fence is required, and whether the Sheltie can be placed with children, dogs or cats. Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of the Shelties in our program, and that our priority is to meet the needs of the Shelties in our care.***

For more information on our adoption process (which includes an application, references and a home visit prior to meeting dogs) or to see other Shelties available for adoption, please visit our website at www.mnsheltierescue.org, or contact us for the adoption application. Missey's adoption fee is $150.00, and she is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative (during heartworm season), is microchipped, had a dental, has been bathed and brushed, etc. All of our dogs are indoor dogs and are not to be left outside unattended (not even in a fenced yard, if the adopter is not at home).
