Update 09/06/12: Cami delivered her puppies today, but it was a very difficult and long delivery for her. She delivered 3 healthy, happy pink puppies, two girlies and one boy. Cami has been an excellent mom and immediately cleaned them and started nursing them. She is also very protective of them. Cami (and Foster Mom) are recuperating today after not getting one minute of sleep last night, so we are all resting. The 1st little girl has four black stockings and a white tipped-tail and weighs 5.3 ounces. The 2nd little girl is almost brindle and weighs 4.0 ounces, and the little boy is black and white and weighs 5.0 ounces.
UPDATED BIO 08/20/2012: CAMI is a Cairn/Yorkie mix; she is only 2 years old and currently weighs a very pregnant 13.4 lbs; she is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Cami's post-pregnancy weight should be around 11 lbs. Today was an exciting day for Cami and Foster Mom; she saw the vet and had a sonogram and x-ray and she is carrying two (a slim chance there may be 3) very healthy puppies! She is around 42-45 days gestation and should be delivering her puppies in approximately two weeks. She is very healthy and at the correct weight she should be at this time. She was soooo good while the vet was doing the sonogram and Foster Mom got to see the tiny, wiggling little puppies! Cami is a loving little girlie who is housetrained and leash-trained. She loves to be with her person and will make someone a loving and loyal companion. Say some prayers and send good karma that all goes well with her whelping - stay tuned!
INITIAL BIO 08/17/2012: MEET CAMI! Cami is a yorkie mix, perhaps a Cairn/Yorkie mix; she is only 2 years old and currently weighs 12.5 lbs. We want to give a B-I-G THANK YOU to Pilot Tim with Pilots 'n Paws for flying Cami from South Florida to her foster home in The Villages, FL.
Cami was picked up as a stray by a high-kill shelter and it was determied that she was pregnant. We are hoping and praying that the vaccinations she was given at the shelter won't hurt her puppies. At this time, we are unsure when she will deliver her puppies, but we are asking for lots of prayers that she and the puppies will be okay. Cami is a calm little girlie and very sweet - she loves to be with her person and gives 'thank you for saving my life' kisses to Foster Mom & Dad. Stay tuned for more info on Cami and her puppies.
