Honeydew's Story...
Honeydew is an adorable, friendly, outgoing and affectionate fellow who just wants to be someone’s only kitty. He is active but gentle, adores people, and loves to play. As a youngster he had the best dance moves ever, and now that he’s big, he still has bouncy dancing feet! Get out the cat toys, and watch him soft shoe, tap and hip hop like a star!

Honeydew is cute and fun and an awesome all around wonderful kitty – a joy to have as a companion.

Honeydew has quite a storied past. He was rescued from DC Animal Control, right off the truck! A little orange and white kitty was being removed from a public housing apartment and stuck in a cage in an Animal Control van. A 4Paws lady intervened, and offered to take him that very day – the shelter was full, so they were happy to give him up to a rescue group! And, they even let us save a second cat, too! We felt so lucky to have saved Honeydew, because this boy is a pleasure to be around, and he loves human company. His affectionate nature and enjoyable antics won everyone’s heart. Honeydew was adopted by a man who expected to have this sweet kitty into old age. But a serious illness and fate intervened, and Honeydew lost the human who was the center of his world. So now Honeydew is looking for a new, loving family.

Honeydew is 4 1/2 years old. He is neutered, up on his vaccinations and tests negative for FeLV. He tests positive for FIV, which you can read about on our website, or ask us for more information. He’s healthy and is expected to live a long, full and happy life with someone who takes good care of him and loves him forever.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Adoption fairs are held once or twice a month at various PETCO stores in Northern Virginia. The adoption fairs are usually held on Saturday’s from 1:00 to 5:00. Between 30 and 60 cats and kittens are shown for adoption at each fair—with the larger fairs generally occurring April through October.

While they are waiting to find permanent loving homes, our cats temporarily live in foster homes. The foster families bring the cats and kittens to the adoption fairs to be seen by potential adopters. Applicants have the opportunity to handle the cats and in some cases, meet the foster parents who can provide additional insight into a cat’s habits and personality.

Our Adoption Process...

At the adoption fairs, if you meet a kitten or cat that you want to adopt, you will be asked to complete an application and contract and leave a check for the adoption fee ($95 for an adult or $125 for un-neutered kitten of which $50 is a deposit that is refunded after you provide 4Paws proof of sterilization). We ask that you pay the adoption fee up front at the fairs in order to “put a hold” on the cat until your application is processed. If your application is not approved, your check is returned to you.

Neither cats nor kittens are sent to their new homes on the day of the fair. It usually takes 4-5 days to process the application before the cat can go to his or her adoptive home. Pre-approval is an option, though. To accelerate the adoption process, you can fax a completed application and contract to us at 703-560-9795 a few days before the fair. Adoption Applications are available on this website.
