My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone my name is Sir Humphrey and like my royal name I am looking for my forever home where I will be treated like royalty. I am an 8 month old long haired Dachshund who so far has had a tough go of things. I was given to my family by a breeder who felt despite their very busy lives that what they needed was a puppy. And even though they loved me, running a family business took up most of their time and I was left alone for 12 hours a day with no one to teach me even the basics like house training and not to bark so much. Because I was so lonely I barked all the time and finally the neighbours didn’t like me anymore so my family had to find me another place to live. Lucky for me they had a friend who was able to get me into this wonderful rescue.

The foster home where I am living now thinks I am a pretty smart cookie despite my slow start in life. After only 2 days I am almost house trained. I really love to go out for walks which is something I didn’t get to do before and I’m very good on the leash. My foster brother is little like me and he has a big basket of squeaky toys that he lets me play with. There are some cats here too that fascinate me but I will admit I do chase them every chance I get. I’m not trying to be mean but my foster mum tells me I do have to learn to not be quite so rambunctious with them. My favourite thing of all is to be snuggled....I LOVE to be held and cuddled and will happily fall into a contented sleep in your arms. I do enjoy meeting new people and other dogs but I am only a little guy so I can be nervous at first especially with dogs that are too pushy. Because this friend thing is new to me I’m also busy learning something called“socializing”. I am learning slowly that being in a crate doesn’t mean I am being left all alone again.

I have lots of energy so I will need a home that will keep me busy. I heard my foster mum say I would do well at small dog agility whatever that is. A family with children would be nice...but not necessary....but because I am a very small guy, just under 10 pounds and could be hurt if I was dropped or stepped on, a home with older children is required for me. If you think you could give me a forever home befitting a royal, loyal boy like me please contact ANML-RESQ.
