Sparkle's Story...
"Hi everybody! My name is SPARKLE, and I'm a Chihuahua mix gal who is about nine months old. My name is very fitting, since I light up a room with my playful energy. I'm a fun-loving, happy little pooch that loves to run around the play yard and chase toys, and I also love to stop for kisses, snuggles, and tummy rubs. I have a beautiful, creamy coat, and I enjoy getting brushed. I'm a great size to be a house dog (or apartment dog), and I'd need just a small yard or a daily walk to get my daily exercise. I get along great with other dogs, and I'd probably love to have another dog in my new home that also loves to play. I'm still learning good manners, so I would do best in a home with older children. I am young and eager to learn new things with your loving, patient guidance. Since I feel safe in my kennel here at the shelter, I might be unsure about you when you come to visit me. Once I get out into the play yard, and especially after I get to know you better, I'll give you all of my love and trust. Please come visit me at the El Cajon Animal Shelter in kennel #32, then ask the staff if we can get better acquainted in the play yard. We will have lots of fun together! Love, Sparkle"

About Our Shelter...
We are the Animal Shelter for the City of El Cajon. We also house animals for the City of La Mesa. We take in strays and animals relinquished by their owners from these two City's only. We adopt out the animals that are not claimed by their owners. You do not have to live within the City to adopt an animal from us. We sometimes have animals other than dogs and cats.

We are located in the City of El Cajon which is east of San Diego. 1275 N. Marshall is two blocks north of Fletcher Parkway, Marshall runs parallel with the trolley tracks.

We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm. The latest we start an adoption is 4:30. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00 and cats are $80.00 All other animal adoption fee's are based on the type of animal.

We do an evaluation with you and the animal to be sure that it is the best animal for you. We require that all children in the household under 9 years old be evaluated with the animal and if you are adopting a dog and you currently own a dog, your dog needs to be evaluated with the new dog to be sure they get along.
