Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Today was a sad day, we had to say goodbye to AJ. He had liver cancer.
Haven Dog - No Phone Calls Please. Due to his age he will now be kept in rescue for life. Please donate to his care and vet costs by sending a donation to Charlotte Cocker Rescue, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
My name is AJ. I am a 13 year old male chocolate tri-color with blue merle markings. I was picked up by the city at my home here in NC quite a distance from this rescue, when my owner decided that she no longer wanted me. The shelter staff then contacted CCR to see if they could take me into rescue. When I came to CCR it was obvious that I had been badly mistreated and abused and it has taken some time for me to regain my trust of humans, especially women. Due to my issues no one adopted me and now I am an older senior with no one interested in me for years. These folks will now keep me in rescue as a Haven Dog. Please donate to help with my care and vet needs.
Since coming to rescue in 2011 and these nice folks working with me, I have learned to enjoy being rubbed and that is real progress from where I was on day one. I would have done best in a home with no children or cats, probably no other dogs, or a very easygoing dog social pal. My owner would have needed lots of patience, a caring heart and a strong alpha personality to continue my journey towards a new life as a good companion. Simply put, I just needed someone who would have accepted me as I am (I have a 1 to 2 grade heart murmur) and could have helped me work through the bad times/good times that are obviously due to my past life and how I was mistreated before being rescued. I am doing lots better, I have gotten rid of the huge chip that I had on my shoulder, but it doesn't just go away that easy.....and that's where I have obvious issues that weren't getting me adopted. Now I am 13 and will live my life here as a Haven Dog. Please donate today to help with my care and vet costs.
I appreciate your kindness! CCR, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
