What happened?
On Saturday, August 4th, 2012, five Shelties and one Sheltie-mix were brought to Southland Sheltie Rescue from Anza, CA. The family lost their home and these 6 wonderful dogs were about to be abandoned outdoors in the heat of summer in a wire pen. A family member called rescue and worked out the details to transport, get the dogs caught up on their immunizations and delivered them to a temporary boarding kennel.
These beautiful male Shelties were raised in an outdoor pen, except for the mix who was allowed inside periodically. The Anza Six are together now, safe and secure in rescue. The 5 shelties are unsocialized (meaning they have never been around people, they are not aggressive at all) just scared. The 4 year old sheltie mix is as friendly as can be, all kissy face, and happy.

Immediately needs:
All the boys still need medical evaluations to be neutered, have dentals, and need foster homes that can help with some socialization and training. The goal is to help the Anza Six become adoptable, well-adjusted family members that are cherished for the rest of their lives.
More information will follow about their personalities, and what they like and dislike, and of course what they need. A lot of work lies ahead, however we are so grateful that these boys are now in our care, and will be well cared for with your help.
