My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sorry for the awful photos! The first is the best we could do on this very beautiful but unphotogenic lady, and the second is her shelter picture. Tandy is a million dollar English! Looks to be in the neighborhood of about three years old. She's absolutely stunning....a field bred tricolor white with lots of ticking, black patches on both eyes with a chestnut mark above each. Not big....a moderate medium. Tandy vividly was someone's loved pet and hunting companion who had one very, VERY bad day and has ended up in rescue. When she arrived, she was the mystery dog....smattered with bumps or polyps, and no one knew why. Not even the vet, who "had no idea what those could be." She needed to go through a biopsy, and the results told such a tale! She had been QUILLED by a porcupine! The quills pulled out....she may have bitten them off herself....with the barbs left, little infections forming around each. She's undergoing treatment now and will be available to go to her new home once that resolves; is doing great. This is an early listing to afford time to find her an ideal home. Enjoying her time in foster care in the meanwhile, she's everything an English lover could want. Very sweet, incredibly affectionate and companionable, ultra gentle, friendly to all. Major time bed snuggler :) Easygoing in the home, really comes alight outside and is a delight to explore the outdoors with. This was definitely someone's hunting dog. If she sees a truckbed, she wants to hop in and GO!, lol She works a lot of ground when loose and sets a lot....a LOT ;) Immediately gets to work when she hears birds. And she LOVES it! Recalls very well with just a (human) whistle. This is not a suburban pet. We could do that to her and she'd do fine, but it wouldn't be right....she loves the outdoors and needs the field in some way. That is where you see her shine and be in such joy. The rest of the time, she's just a super stellar house dog. You'd be hard pressed to find one nicer. She is fostered with a cat, who she gets along with, although initially was going into a point and sometimes will still do this. The cat thinks she's weird and they have staring contests ;) She's fine with dogs, but is not a good choice for someone looking for a companion for their pet. Not very extending or interested in play. Pretty much "female," wants her people, her roost, her goodies. She'd do fine living with another dog....a male.....as she's certainly not issue-y. She's just stuck up and probably wants first rights in a roost, sans any drama. Is absolutely reliable with kids, really grooves on men but likes everyone. Easy to handle, does fine in the house re housebreaking, seldom barks. Just a perfect, perfect girl and as noted....forget the pics....a true stunner. *****If you are a hunter, or if you know of one you could tip off, she is a dream dog.****** Tandy will NOT be adopted to someone who will not give her field forays. So a hunter in suburbia, someone who lives in the country, or a breed knowledgeable person who understands what is this breed's heart....for she has lived the life of a field dog and deserves to revisit it. Once you see her out there, you will see what we mean :) Just a spectacular girl! An application is available on the southpawsexpress.org website.
