My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Carter, and I’m 12 pound bundle of pure love.
To tell you a bit about myself, I enjoy playing fetch with fosters, and follow them around like a personal shadow. Where ever kind people are, I am sure to be right behind. Aside from my sterling companionship skills, I also give great kisses and get so excited when people take the time to get to know me.

Believe it or not though, I have not always been this carefree. When I first came into rescue....I would freeze every time they attached a leash to my collar to take me outside. Every day that goes by, I do better. Now I let people I know put my leash and collar on with out getting so scared. As it turn out, humans can be really gentle and loving! Oh, did I mention I’m also potty trained?

Because of my past life, and because I can still lack confidence and get nervous in some situations, I will be adoptable in mid-October, as I am currently working on how to behave around other small dogs, and I have a habit of trying to dart out the door. Kids tend to run out the door to play, and my foster mom thinks I would do best in a home with only mature kids 12+, or even better- let me be the kid. I do like to be spoiled! There's a big world out there, and it is tough to learn learn that my sense of adventure is safest on a leash with my humans. I'd definitely like a home where I can be the only puppy prince, and no other dogs. However, I do alright with the cat at my foster home. She does her thing, I do mine.

You can fill out a simple online adoption application at www.nbsar.org and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on it's vaccinations and heartworm preventative as well as spayed/neutered unless there is a documented medical reason on file with your veterinarian. Dogs must be current on DHLPP, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative, cats must be current on Distemper, Rabies, and Heartworm Preventative at the time of application.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and will fill out an adoption application right away, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family. Would you please help me by sharing my picture and information on your Facebook page, or e-mail to your friends and family members? I'm a great pup and I really deserve a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
