My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*RICHMOND VA* and willing to travel for the right home. Sam's special needs are that he needs to go to a home with other dogs. He needs to be a second or third dog in a pack.

Sam was rescued in the Summer of 2011 from a dogfighting bust.  He’s a beautiful healthy and physically fit American Pit Bull Terrier that actually gets along very well with other dogs.  He is a very sweet dufus type dog. He rides great in the car and is an all around wonderful companion.  Sam has some scars from his life outside on a chain prior to rescue but he has forgotten them all.  He’s a really sweet dog. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed and we believe at one time he may have suffered a head injury. When he was rescued he had some coordination issues but through time, nutrition and exercise his special gait has disappeared and he is now a normal dog.  Sam is a good boy, he loves snuggle time in the evening and when you pick him up he just goes boneless in your arms.  He’s just a super boy. Great with people of all shapes and sizes. Sam is a quiet boy and rarely barks.  He’s a small performance bred pit bull with a mellow laid back personality.

He’s a submissive boy, doesn’t lift his leg (so that’s great for your bushes!), he leans forward like a horse. Loves to chew, rawhides and piggy rolls and galileo bones, even real bones. He’ll play with anything but rope toys are not a good idea as he will eat the rope. Healthy, no skin problems, allergies or food issues. Fully vaccinated, HW negative, on prevention, neutered and microchipped.

Mellow easy going guy, not high energy. A good house pet, not up for being a jogging partner, he’d rather just stay home and eat sticks in the yard. He’s easy to handle, when you have to clip his nails or look him over he just goes limp like a noodle. Will let you do anything you want to him. He would be a nice “second dog” as he does well with other dogs, would do best with a female dog. Since he’s a mellow submissive kind of guy, we would like to place him as an only pet or with an opposite sexed dog.

Please keep in mind that we are a foster based rescue only. There is no facility where these dogs can be visited prior to application approval as they are all in private homes. This is for both the safety of our foster homes and our dogs. Please take a minute to fill out the adoption application if you are interested in one of our dogs. We also do not place our pit bulls in homes with dogs of the same gender. We adopt as single dogs or to homes with dogs of the opposite gender only. We appreciate breed experience.
