Here is what their foster parent had to say about them:
Jake and Peanut seem to be adjusting well to their new temporary home. The first night was a long night as Jake whined for most of the night when I put them in the crate for bed time. Peanut was fine and I didn’t hear a peep out of him. Jake is definitely the vocal (and stubborn) one of the two and does most of the barking. Peanut only barks when Jake does and only sometimes. They really only bark when someone comes to the door more so out of being excited to see people. They want to jump up to greet people but we are working on that and they are getting better at not jumping up.
I decided not to crate them and instead I have let them on the bed with me and they curled up together and sleep right through the night. I also give them free reign of the house during the day when I have gone to work and there have been no accidents in the house or anything out of order when I get home from work so they don’t really need to be crated during the day. I have had no issues with either of them doing their business outside….they know what to do when we go out in the yard and they absolutely love to be outside and love to explore the yard.
Jake and Peanut were fine with my neighbours two dogs when they were out in their yard, they barked at first and then wanted to play and ran with each other along the fence line with the dogs. They are very friendly with my neighbours and with everyone they have met, they even liked my dad when he came by to see them. They have not been around children yet so not sure how they would be but I think they would be okay.
As for the cat, Jake could care less but Peanut is obsessed with my cat. I don’t think he would hurt the cat, I think he wants to play with the cat but of course the cat wants nothing to do with him! Peanut does listen when I tell him to leave the cat alone so I don’t see an issue if the adoptive family has a cat.
The boys love going for walks and aren’t too bad on the leash. They practically walk side by side with each other and don’t venture too far from each other. In fact no matter what they are doing, they are never more than a couple of feet from each other, whether walking, eating, lying down or sleeping. I thought it would be hard to get a picture of them together when in fact it was more difficult to get a picture of them on their own!!
They are both well behaved in the car and sit in the back seat looking out the window.
I definitely think that Jake and Peanut need to stay together and hopefully we can find a family that will adopt both of them.
