My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Riley is a really sweet 3 year old red and rust male Dobe with a docked tail, natural ears and a beautiful coat. He weighs in at 77 pounds. He lives comfortably with his foster sister, a Fox Terrier, and two resident cats. He has had play dates with Dobe females. He is very trustworthy in the house and behaves well around children. Riley is trained to a crate and will sleep through the night in one if required to do so, Or….he will sleep in his dog bed next to your bed. He rides well inside a crate in my car. He is a bit vocal when you first leave him but seems to settle down after a few minutes. He will Sit, Down and Wait at doors but sometimes he is slow to respond to those commands. Some group Obedience classes will work wonders with this boy! He is good with people coming to visit that he is properly introduced to but he will benefit from more socialization. Riley is very alert to any noise which makes walks a bit tedious because he is constantly on the alert for whatever may come along; whether that might be a vehicle, bicycle or people. I am working with him in this area and I believe that he CAN overcome this once he gains more confidence. He needs more self-assurance to know what he should bark at and what is not a threat. Riley will need an owner who is experienced in working with large dogs; someone who can help Riley gain more confidence so he can overcome his mistrust of strange people, places and things.
