Freckles's Story...
Freckles is about 5 years old. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, flea and heartworm medication. As best as I can tell she seems to be a mix between some sort of shepherd/bully breed and Jack Russell terrier.

She is deaf, but copes wonderfully. She knows sign commands and is very responsive. She lives to please. She responds wonderfully to positive attention and training. She responds very negatively to aggression. She was rescued from a shelter, where no one realized she was deaf, and where she was about to be euthanized. Judging by her reaction in different situations she must have been abused before she ended up in the shelter. She freezes at the site of a water hose. She becomes very agitated when someone is showing signs of aggression either towards other person, other animal or her (but calms down very quickly and easily with a calming stroke of a hand). If not specifically provoked, she is extremely loving, responsive and lives to please you.

She is an active dog, but not in any way hyper. She only barks when provoked or very excited. Otherwise is perfectly calm. Well behaved. Takes to positive correction very easy. She is very good off the leash - when on a walk with our pack of dogs, she's the only one that keeps about 2 ft away from me at all times. She makes eye contact often to not get lost. At home, she follows me everywhere. Since she cannot hear where I am, she just follows me everywhere and it seems to give her comfort.

She is absolutely adorable, not too big or too small (about 40 lbs). She is allergic to flea bites, but with regular flea meds it's not a problem. She doesn't shed much. She can only hear very high pitched sounds, but she does respond to vibrations and sign commands.

She is the kind of dog that looks you straight in the eyes and would give her life for you. At home she's pretty laid back if given some exercise (daily walk is just fine). She just loves to be wherever you are. But she is happy to be home alone when you're at work or otherwise busy.

Freckles would be the perfect companion for someone that is confident with dogs, wants a dog that will bond with the person closely, be very loyal and loving.

Freckles is about 40 lbs, she is not good with dominant female dogs, but is fine with submissive dogs. She is great with cats. Has never been around children so I am not sure about this part.

I am looking to find a wonderful home for her with a very special person and for her to have a happy, fulfilling life.

About Our Rescue Group...
Fostering saves lives. It’s as simple as that. Instead of trying to escape the thoughts and images of abandoned and neglected cats and kittens, I decided to face the reality head on. To be proactive. Yes, you cannot save them all. But you can make a difference – a life and death difference – on many cats’ lives by fostering. There are other avenues you can pursue as well, such as networking and volunteering. But fostering is one of the most challenging (I know I’ve had a few ‘failed’ fosters ) but rewarding experiences in anyone’s life.

I am not a big organization, but one person trying to make a difference. You can make a difference too! Adopt, foster, network or volunteer. Whatever you do, do something. Yours actions (or inaction) matter!

Visit my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/dfwcatnetwork and spread the word, network, message me if you would like to adopt or foster. If you do not have a Facebook account email kerra31-cats@yahoo.com with your questions or contact information.

Our Adoption Process...

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Freckles, a Fort Worth American Pit Bull Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Fort Worth, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Fort Worth.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fort Worth already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fort Worth breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fort Worth paves the way for another one to be saved.
