Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SAMMIE. Due to a new baby and move out of state, this darling black and tan dachshund needs a new home. Sammie is 6 year old spayed female with a lot of spunk and personality. She is very smart, curious, loving and loyal. She responds very well to structure and commands. She loves to be praised for being good. She loves to play and chew her bones. She knows basic commands like "sit", "leave it", "go potty", etc. Sammie will flourish in a home with adults and older children. She may not get along well with other dogs (other than Lucy) and does not do well with young children. She needs to be your one and only. Sammie is potty trained and kennel trained. She sleeps in a kennel at night and loves playing in the backyard. Does fine on leash and in the car. Special girl.
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fees are set to cover the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. FEE: $350.
Sammie is waiting to meet you. Can you give her a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@teleport.com - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
