Joey's Story...
We rescued Joey from a local high-kill shelter.  He'd been surrendered there at his current age of about 3 because he had heartworm and his owner couldn't afford to treat him for it.  Well, we can and will!  Heartworm is not contagious, is caused by mosquitoes and is preventable if owners would just get their animals the monthly pill!  Mosquitoes ruin everything!  We're determined not to let them ruin Joey's chances of getting into the great home he deserves.  We pay for the pills that will cure him and his routine checkups while he's taking them.  He has no outward symptoms and we do a simple blood test every now and then to see if he's cured.  We'll do all that - would you provide a home for this sweetie in the meantime?  Even if it's a temporary home, Joey would really appreciate it!  He's calm and walks well on a leash.  He's a little bewildered about being in a cage at the shelter so we'd love to see him get into a home setting.  Please contact adoptions@homelesspets.com if you can help Joey out!  Or fax an application (found at homelesspets.com/adoptions) to 770-971-1292.  Or meet Joey at 1343 Gresham Rd, Marietta 30062 (Mon-Thurs 8-8, Fri 8-6).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joey, a Marietta Chow Chow dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chow Chow for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Chow Chow dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chow Chow breeders who help with Chow Chow rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
