New photos added to webshots link on 10/14/12, with Scrappy loving my niece, hanging with the barkin' boys and meeting the new foster dog (there are 64 photos in the album): http://pets.webshots.com/album/583433891yXtMOH

Meet Scrappy! At 10 months old and ~15 pounds, and rust/wheaten/brindle colored hair with black tips, Scrappy looks like a mix of border terrier, chihuahua and yorkie or cairn terrier. :-) Of course, this is just a guess.

Scrappy was picked up as a stray in rural West Virginia, and quickly became a shelter favorite. Since he loved being close to people and was a snuggle-bunny, he was frequently allowed to hang out in the lobby.

Shelter staff reported: You can't believe how sweet, calm and good-natured little Scrappy is! While being the lobby dog, he would greet everyone with a tail wag, getting along with the lobby cats, enjoying being petted, and is just a love bug. We are all amazed at how calm he is for so young a dog. He follows the staff around and when they are busy just stretches out in a close spot and relaxes until someone has time to pet him or rub his belly.

Fast forward to being rescued from the shelter and transported to Lyme CT: Now that Scrappy is in his foster home in CT, we can confirm that he is indeed definitely a love-bug! He bonds very quickly to people and is very affectionate; he may be the sweetest dog ever! Scrappy is also thoroughly enjoying bounding around the fenced yard and playing with the resident dogs. Every walk we take in the woods is like an amazing adventure to him! He loves watching the autumn leaves tumble to the ground. :-) Scrappy is VERY gentle with taking treats and learned to "sit" in just a few minutes. He is super sweet, eager to please, and gives tiny kisses when he greets you. He is not yappy like some chihuahua mixes. Scrappy is a wonderful little boy!

If there are children in the family that is applying to adopt, they must be over 7 years old. He would do best with a physically active family and ideally, a fenced yard, since he wants to chase critters. :-)

Scrappy is neutered, up to date on routine vaccinations, heartworm negative, and crate trained. He is on heartworm preventative and frontline. He appears to be at least mostly housetrained, as he has had no accidents.

Fuzzy Face Rescue's adoption process includes an adoption application, reference checks and a home visit. We will only adopt to people who are located within 90 minutes driving distance from the 06371 zip code. Exceptions are occasionally made if I have a good rescue friend who lives nearby your location who'd be able to complete the home visit (NY, NJ, VT, NH, ME, RI) Please email us at scruffafluffrescue@gmail.com for an application if you are interested in adopting Scrappy!

Scrappy is being fostered in Lyme CT.

NOTE that if you use yahoo or AOL (or any other email other than gmail), email may end up in your spam box, so check it frequently if you have inquired on or applied for Scrappy. This has happened repeatedly to applicants when I send the application to them; the applicants think that I have not responded, when in fact my email to them has ended up in spam.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: Just to be clear, even though Scrappy has the wiry coat of a border terrier, and sheds very, very little, we cannot be certain nor can we guarantee that he is hypoallergenic.
