Taco **URGENT**'s Story...
Taco is an abandoned dog found running around the streets of San Leandro. He was taken in by a kind soul who can only keep Taco temporarily. We are looking for a foster or adoptive home for Taco.

Taco is a little timid and skittish, but friendly. I was able to pick him up 30 minutes after meeting him and give him a bath with no aggression. Once he warms up, he loves to cuddle. Taco's actually social with my dog and people - but you have to crouch down so he's not intimidated. He is still not house trained yet, but we are currently taking him out every 2 hours so he doesn't have any accidents. He sleeps well in a crate at night with no whining or barking. So far he likes Freeze dried liver treats and is eating Fromm's dog food.

Taco's still learning to play with toys. He showed some interest in the tennis ball today and stuffed animal toy. He does play gently with my dog but she's a terrier mix and she’s a bit aggressive for him.

I took Taco to Good Samaritan Vet in San Leandro and no issues per the doctor. He has a little tartar on his canines, but his other teeth are good. He's got his first DHPP shot, Bordetella and 1st round of de-worming. The staff said Taco was very good with the shots and nail trim. He had two scabs on his body and the doctor removed them since they were healed really well.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Taco **URGENT**, a Berkeley Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
