My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

PLEASE CLICK ON "READ MORE ABOUT THIS PET" FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION!

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Marty--not her real name, as we don't know it--was rescued from a Walmart dumpster where she was thrown out like trash!!! The employee who found her simply set her down and let her wander off, and a good Samaritan rescued her from heavy traffic on a four lane highway! How anyone could throw a dog out like garbage is beyond belief, especially such a sweet senior chihuahua like Marty. This dear girl is probably 13-15 years old. She is a little bit underweight at 7.8 pounds but she has a great appetite and will be about 8.5 pounds when she fills out. Marty is all grey but was probably black with white feet and trim in her earlier years. She seems hard of hearing but she can see well enough to get around easily. Her eyes are dry sometimes so she gets a simple over-the-counter eye ointment as needed. Marty gets around very well despite some arthritis which she gets medication for. She is perfectly house trained, and even after being discarded she simply LOVES people and wants to give kisses all the time. Marty gets along with other dogs, not sure about cats and would prefer an adult home in her retirement. Marty is with a 501c3 rescue. She is completely vetted--spayed, up to date on shots and worming, is on one month of antibiotic for ehrlichiosis, a tick borne illness which will cure it, is on heartworm pills, had a full dental so she has just a few teeth and now she has a HomeAgain microchip.Marty enjoys her soft food which she will need for the rest of her life. Her adoption fee will be negotiable to someone who can offer her a wonderful forever home and they will be repaid with devotion, love and lots of kisses.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
