Melanie is a beautiful blue and white pitbull, about a year old. She was kept in someone's backyard, with a bunch of other dogs. One morning she got into trouble. Somehow, her left hind foot was severely mangled, although it's unclear exactly what happened. Her owner surrendered her, convinced she was about to die. We rushed her to the emergency vet, where she went to the operating room to have the foot examined and cleaned. The vet amputated her 2 middle toes and bandaged her up. Poor Melanie spent 2 weeks with a cone around her neck, taking antibiotics and submitting to dressing changes every 2 days. She came through with flying colors. No matter what, she was always sweet and calm. All the technicians at the vet just loved her! Now she runs and walks on the foot like nothing happened. It's completely healed and, though it looks a little strange, completely functional.
We didn’t know it, but Melanie turned out to be pregnant. Only one of her puppies survived. Her puppy has found her forever home and now it is time for Melanie to find hers.
Melanie loves people. She likes to "hang out" with you and will follow you wherever you go. She's great with both dogs and cats. She's crate and house trained. If you're looking for a faithful companion, Melanie is your girl!
