My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Boots is a very loyal and loving girl. She is friendly with everyone but totally devoted to her person. Although a young dog she is very well behaved in the home and a loyal companion. She loves people of all ages and is fine with other pets including cats. She would do well in any living situation. She currently weighs just over 60 lbs and is full grown at approximately a year old.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Boots is a very happy girl who loves everyone. She bonds very quickly to her person and is a loyal, affectionate companion. She is a young dog and would definitely need further obedience training but she is intelligent and learns quickly. She has excellent recall and never strays from her person even off leash. Even in a full house she will get very attached to one person and she lives for attention and affection, she comes running to the door excited to greet you no matter how short a while you were gone. She is a little shy at first but is friendly with everyone, including children and people of all ages. Boots is extremely docile and gentle.

She is great with all animals. At home she just goes up and inspects the cat but is never hostile. At the dog park she just loves to meet and chase other dogs around and get them to play with her.

She is calm and quiet in the home but loves to play with other dogs at the dog park, play fetch or go for a run/walk. In the entire time of fostering the dog, I have heard her bark a total of three times tops. She is quiet all the time, both in and outside the house. A perfect balance.

She will come, sit, get on and off furniture, drop, jump up, etc. however she is still in the learning phase overall. While she may listen most of the time, it is a little hit or miss when she is stimulated. That said she is very smart and intuitive and generally know when you want her to do something. She is not always food motivated but just loves the affection when she gets something right. She is perfectly house trained. She will usually come up to you and let you know if she absolutely has to go. She is crate trained; however she prefers to be free to roam most of the time. She is reluctant to get in the crate at first but will go in and is ok with it. We only crate her when no one is at home for an extended period of time. She loves being in the car and rides extremely well. She will lie down in the back while the car is moving and look out of the window when you come to a stop. She is very good on a leash and rarely pulls on it, unless she sees a squirrel or another dog. She does like to stop and smell things as with all dogs but she can sometimes try to pull you on one of her sniffing tangents. She doesn’t try to steal food off counters or plates and will sometimes just go in for an inquisitive sniff. As she is a young dog and probably still teething we do crate her when we are away for an extended period to ensure she doesn't get into any trouble while we are out. She has excellent recall and will come even when off leash. She is very loyal to her person.

Boots would do well in any situation. She is, although shy, great with people, kids, other dogs and animals and would blend well into any situation she is put into. She is still young enough to have a lot of energy so someone who can upkeep that lifestyle for her would be ideal. She would serve well as a dog for a young adult or a family with or without children, in anything from an apartment to a big home. I think Boots would do well as long as her new family is willing to continue working with her socialization and some further training.
