I am good with kids and good with cats.
McKenzie was rescued from a rural, high kill shelter. The shelter staff thought she looked pregnant, and the Animal Control Officer thought she was an older dog, so her time was up as soon as the "stray hold" expired. As it turns out, she wasn't pregnant (possibly a false pregnancy) and is only about 1 year to 18 months old according to the vet. McKenzie is a sweet little girl that bonds strongly with people that are good to her. She just wants to be with her humans. She does get anxious when left alone, but is beginning to learn that when she is crated for short periods she isn't being abandoned. She does bark and cry when she is first put in the crate but is getting better about that also. She loves toys, has lots of puppy energy, and gets along well with the other playful dogs in her foster home. She is fine with cats that don't run, but will chase those that do, so might be better in a home without them. McKenzie is doing well with house training but will need someone that will continue working with her until she completely masters it. She needs a fenced yard as she won't relieve herself if she is on a leash, preferring "privacy" to do so. This little 17 pound girl would be a great choice for a family with somebody home most of the time and older (5+) kids that would play with her during the day and let her sleep with them at night. If you think you may like to open your home and heart to this sweet girl, please fill out an application for review. She is being fostered in Mid Michigan so special arrangements for meeting/adopting will need to be made. This will be done for pre-qualified applicants only. If you have any specific questions about this pet you can contact her foster Mom at: Please put "McKenzie" in the subject line.
