Here's what the humans have to say about me:
When Joey first arrived at GSRNE his fur was matted, he was overweight, and he was suffering from an ear infection and conjunctivitis in his eye. Despite his obvious discomfort, Joey was still a friendly, loving dog. As soon as he arrived at his foster home he was put on a diet and given proper medications; after just a few weeks he was starting to shine.
Joey has a beautiful plush long coat and can be described as a gentle giant that enjoys affection. He’s vocal and likes to “talk” and will lean on people to be petted. While in the house he’s well behaved and likes to follow his foster dad around. As he’s lost weight he’s been getting more energy but is still a bit of a couch potato when indoors!
Tennis balls? Not for this dog! Joey loves to play with soccer balls and basketballs and will play fetch with them. He doesn’t do well with stuffed toys as he tends to destroy them and eat the stuffing. He rides well in the car and will sit quietly looking out the window. He also likes going to the dog park and for the occasional swim. He loves meeting new people and gets along with most dogs. He shows too much interest in cats and would do best in a feline free home.
New owners will need to incorporate brushing into their routine as Joey’s fur gets matted easily. They’ll also want to continue giving him a weekly ear wash to keep his ears clean. It’s possible he has seasonal allergies and may need to use eye medication at certain times of the year.
Joey doesn’t ask for much. His ideal home will be a family that gives him daily exercise and takes care of his grooming needs. Could it be you? If so you’ll be rewarded with a big teddy bear kind of dog!
