My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Birthdate: 9/28/09

Gender: Male, neutered

Breed: Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix

With little springs in his feet, Louie is always right where he wants to be.. .. instantly in your lap, because that’s where all the petting happens, and he’s certainly not going to miss out on that! Louie loves attention. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, that’s where he will be.

But don’t mistake Louie for a couch potato because he’s anything but! He loves to play, especially with other dogs his own size. His foster mom has a nice big fenced-in yard, and when he gets up to top speed running with the other tiny dogs, he’s like a little furry rocket zipping around the yard.

And when the rocket finally runs out of fuel? He makes a beeline for home base, his crate, and goes right to bed. That’s his safe, happy spot that he always returns to.

We believe Louie is a Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix. He weighs in at a tall 9 pounds of athletic canine.

He gets along great with other dogs and currently shares his foster home with about a dozen other teeny tiny dogs and a couple larger ones. He does well with everyone. All he asks is that he gets to keep his bed for his very own.

He also shares his foster home with a few cats, and he’s perfectly fine with them as well. Of course, being the size of a cat, he probably thinks they’re just funny little dogs.

Louie has been around kids and prefers older children who will be happy to play ball with him and take him for long walks but not tug on or step on him.

Louie is dual potty trained. Although he will go outside, he is also trained to use a puppy pad. If you would prefer that he go outside only, he may need a little extra training while he makes the adjustment.

This happy little boy is currently in foster care, but he would love to meet you. Please call 330-397-8270 to schedule an appt to meet him at the shelter. He is already neutered, heartworm tested, fully vaccinated, dewormed and flea treated, so he’s ready to join your family right away.
