Bennie's Story...
Bennie is a 21-pound, front-declawed, 7-year-old, short-haired brown tiger cat whose former owner could no longer keep him. This jumbo-sized tabby's heart is breaking because he enjoyed his former owner's quiet home and the sweet way she used to talk to him. He's still traumatized by his relocation, and will be quite shy at first, but he will become very affectionate once he gets to know and trust someone. He would probably do best as a solo cat, but he's big and (eventually will be) loving enough as though he were two cats! He is is neutered and vaccinated, and he tested "negative" for feline leukemia and FIV. Bennie is very temporarily being fostered in a back room of a store in Wickliffe in Lake County, Ohio, but he belongs in a house or apartment where he will once again be a cherished pet.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We arrange for potential adoptions by appointment at the shelter, because the sanctuary's founder & director Jeanne Bones has to supplement the facility's income by doing "pet sitting " work (cleaning, feeding, etc.) at people's homes. We sometimes do adoption events elsewhere, but we mostly publicize our adoptable cats via pet-oriented websites.

Our Adoption Process...
Fees usually range from $50-$65 (which also covers altering, shots, testing, etc.). We have people fill out a form that is both an adoption application and agreement. (There is no fee for just applying.) We ask for the adopter's name, address, work and home (and cell) phone numbers, their vet 's name and number, number and ages of children and/or other pets, and the names and phone numbers of at least two personal references. To protect the cat...If the adoption doesn't work out, we give a full refund if the cat is returned to us, even if a lot of time has passed since the date of the adoption.
