Billy's Story...
Billy is a male Lab cross and is about 2-3 years old. He came to be at the NHS through an animal cruelty investigation. He loves to play with is dog friend Bob in the front pen, but has not been introduced to other dogs just yet. He also LOVES cats and will rub up against them if they let him. Billy does know how to sit, but is so energetic that he doesn’t stay in a sit position for very long! Because Bily is so energetic, he also tends to jump up a lot, but with proper training, he will make a great addition to a family with older children (12 years and up). Billy has been at the NHS since July 3, 2007.
This pet is already house trained.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Billy, a Port Hope Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Port Hope, or seeking a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Port Hope.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Hope already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Hope breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Retriever (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Hope paves the way for another one to be saved.
