My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 11/28/12: Colton here: Well, I got all my toofers polished up and the tooth fairy only had to come for one little baby toof!! You should see me smile now! My foster mom says I'm a different boy now that I had my surgery too - I have no idea what she means..... Well, I had no idea there were so many TOYS around! I LOVE to run and play - did you just see that????? Gotta go!

Foster mom here, Colton came through his surgery very well. He is like a totally different dog! Colton loves to be held and will try to do everything he can to get near his person. Colton does still try to mark his area, but his urge is significantly less after surgery. Belly bands may be the final trick for this little guy!

The best home for Colton:

An adult only home because of his size
Someone who is home most of the day to spoil him rotten!!
An experienced yorkie owner who is willing to work with him to complete his house training.
A fenced in yard is preferred.

Thanks for checking up on this 3 year old 4lb little guy!!!

Update 11/22/12: Hi Everybody! Wow, has it been a fast and furious week!! My foster mom says I act like a puppy - I like to get into anything interesting... Ya see, I only lived in a cage before, so I had no idea there were so many cool things out there! Gotta run, I think I'm going to turn over my bed to see what is underneath!!

Foster mom here: Colton is a very sweet boy who still is a bit scared. He has now had his shots, been fixed and is good to go! Colton came to United Yorkie Rescue with a belly full of worms and was very underweight. After some much needed meds, this 3 year old boy has some spring in his step! Since getting to know him, this is what the best adoptive home for him would look like:
No children under the age of 12.
Fenced in yard (He loves to run after living in a cage all his life)
An experienced yorkie owner.

Colton is a marker, meaning, he loves to mark everything. It is getting better, but his new owner will have to continue work with him to stop this behavior. He has never had an accident in the house - he just marks his territory. Terriers can be tough dogs to house train, that is where previous experience will come in! We are working on pee-pad training as well as going outside as I am unsure what will happen once the snow flies!

All that being said - Colton wants one thing: a family of his own to love him and suggle him as much as possible. What will you get in return? LOTS of kisses and a devoted friend. What more could you ask?

Initial Bio 11/11/12: Hi. My name is Colton and I am an adorable 3 year old, 4 pound Yorkie who was just released from a breeder in Iowa. I am staying in Chicago for a few days until I make my way to my foster home in Wisconsin. I am little shy when you first meet me, but I am so sweet and will get along with anybody. I just want to be loved. I will be ready for adoption after I am neutered and get all my shots.
