Jake's Story...
Jake is a wonderful 6 month old puppy, who is totally house trained. He is great with all other animals including cats, dogs, puppies and horses. Jake knows how to sit, give his paw, and always comes when called. He does not chew anything but his marrow bones and loves his toys. This is one very easy to train puppy. He is up to date on all shots and is ready to go! He will make a great family pet. The FASTEST way to reach us about this animal is by email:

Due to limited resources and a large call volume, it may take us several days to respond to calls but we typically respond to email same-day.

To adopt, simply out the adoption form for the animal you are interested in and submit email or fax it to us.

We do not have a shelter so before you can meet any of the animals in our program, you need to submit an adoption form and that animal's foster family will get back to you promptly.

You can find the dog adoption form at
The Animal Center
PO Box 475
Newtown, CT 06470

The Animal Center’s cat and dog rescue program are foster based (we don’t have a shelter). Adoptions are made by appointment only.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jake, a Newtown Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel for sale in Newtown, or seeking a Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel puppy from a breeder in Newtown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Newtown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Newtown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Newtown paves the way for another one to be saved.
