My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cain and his brother Abel (who is also up for adoption) came to us from a hoarding situation where they had been living their lives in one room with several other dogs. Although they warm up fairly quickly to their person, they are still timid of strangers and will need someone that is willing to give them the TLC needed to help them become confident, respected companions. Both are pups under a year old and weigh approximately 15 lbs. Cute as a button and bonding very strongly to their person, they definitely deserve a chance at a happy life.

Cain is the braver of the two and warmed up much quicker than his brother. He is outgoing, intelligent and interested in everything. Like other pups he is full of beans and will need obedience training. He house trained very easily after only two days in foster care. He is crated at night and when the foster mom is out of the home and enjoys placing with his foster siblings. He is still very unsure of the outside world and will need time and patience with his new owner to learn confidence and that there is nothing to fear. Cain is very affectionate and loves pet and cuddles. He would really like to be with his person all the time and would be fine as an only dog or with another friendly dog in the home that he could emulate.

Here is what his foster mom had to say:

Cain is very shy initially, but when he knows he can trust his people, his real personality shines through. Cain is a smart, playful and loving little companion. He is in good health, is now fully house trained and is in the process of learning good doggie manners. He had no training but has now learned stay, wait and drop it. Of course he will need a lot of consistency in his training and like any your pup he needs to be monitored and supervised if left out on his own.

I've had Cain on leash twice, he does okay, however he will try to get out of his collar and will pull. I don't think it is the leash itself he is afraid of, rather the outside world and things going on around him. He just needs a calm, relaxed and patient person to work with him as he is very eager to learn.

Cain is good with the dogs in the home-- likes to play with them. He is also good with the cats in the home, however will chase my cat if he is outside. He doesn't seem to have any fear of loud noises. He is mostly afraid of stangers. He appears to be non-shedding and is fairly quiet in the home only barking if someone is at the door.

Cain needs a strong and assertive owner that will be committed to working on his socialization with people, basic obedience and general good manners around the home. He is a very head strong dog and will challenge you if he has the opportunity. He is, however, loving and affectionate with his person.

If you feel you have the love and patience needed to help Cain become a great companion, please submit an application for consideration.
