My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Low Energy, Okay With Other Small Dogs, No Children
Hi! My name is Dina. I am a 10 year old 7 pound female Chihuahua. I have kind of a sad story to tell. I was found as a stray in Los Angeles with several golf ball sized mammary tumors up and down my mammary chain, one of which was ulcerated. I had also not been spayed and had most likely been used for breeding. A shelter volunteer was worried about me and contacted ASPTL to see if they would take me in. The director did not know just how bad my tumors where until I got to Colorado. When they took me to the vet to get checked out, the vet told the director that is was not a matter of whether or not I had cancer, but how bad the cancer was. So they took me to get some x-rays and blood work and the vet found that I was very lucky and the cancer had not yet spread beyond my mammary tumors! The rescue was relieved but I still had to undergo several procedures to remove all the tumors, get spayed and get a dental cleaning. I am a special needs girl and I just need a quiet home to hang my hat for whatever time I have left. I know it is hard to adopt a dog that may not have much time left, but we Chihuahuas are a tough breed and I am a fighter. In my dream home I would be the only pet, but 1 or 2 other small dogs would be alright as long as they knew I need my space. My adopter would also take me for daily walks and car rides, I love to be on the go! My adoption fee is $50. Please visit www.softplacetoland.org to fill out our online application.
