General's Story...
Moderate Energy, Good With Other Animals, Good with Children
Greetings! My name is General. I am a 9 year old male American Eskimo. I found myself in a shelter in the fall of last year because my owner surrendered me. Her husband had passed and she could no longer take care of me. She had noticed that I was not seeing that well, but she did not know I had diabetes! Luckily the shelter figured it out and got me started on insulin. The shelter realized that I needed to be with a rescue that could address my medical needs and transferred me to A Soft Place to Land. My blood glucose is back within normal range and my diabetes is controlled through diet and insulin. I can see some motion and contrast, but I cannot see very well at all. But you know what, it does not bother me one bit! I am one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet! My dream home would have another dog or play with (but I would not mind being an only dog), I would get to go on daily walks or trips to the park to sniff around, and plenty of snuggling! I am neutered, micro chipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heart worm negative. My adoption fee is $100. Please visit www.softplacetoland.org to fill out our online application.

About Our Rescue Group...
A Soft Place To Land, Inc. was founded in 2010 by two dog lovers and best friends. We are a small foster home-based rescue, so we do not have a shelter facility. As former breeders of English Springer Spaniels, we realized there were too many dogs out there without homes - why breed more dogs?! So we decided to rescue retired breeders so they would not be euthanized. Our hope is that eventually, through awareness of the plight of puppy mill dogs, more people will choose to adopt a pet instead of purchasing a pet through a pet store - making puppy mills a thing of the past!

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We prefer to adopt in the state of Colorado as our resources are limited and generally we are not able to perform home visits further away than 6 hours. The dogs we rescue are primarily retired commercial breeding dogs and we like to make sure the dog will be comfortable in your home before we complete the adoption. If the adopter lives further away, it is difficult to know how the dogs will react to the new environment. If there is a problem, we require that the dog be returned to the rescue to re-home and the distance to transport could be an issue. However, if you are willing to come meet the dog and are willing to send us pictures of your home, we will consider it. (In state applicants would be considered first if multiple applications were received on the same dog.)
