My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Boo Boo is a Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. The Yellow-crested Cockatoo is found in wooded and cultivated areas of East Timor and Indonesia's islands of Sulawesi and the Lesser Sundas Islands. It is considered to be one of the smallest of the white cockatoo species. Currently this bird is listed in appendix I on CITES. It is estimated that there are only about 10,000 left in the wild. They are generally considered passive birds. Boo Boo is about 20 years old and has had only one owner. Her owners were unable to give her the attention she needed and were kind enough to give her up to someone who could give her a better life. She was very frightened and tries to first resist efforts to get her out of her cage, however as soon as you get her out and spend time with her, you find that she is just a darling. She cradles herself in your neck and is content to stay there forever it seems. She has already visited the vet and while her feather condition is not as good as it could be, and the vet said that she needs a new diet, she is overall in great shape. With lots of love and attention and the right diet, her feather condition should improve tremendously. Boo Boo is being transitioned from an all seed diet to pellets, vegetables, fresh fruit and some nuts. She is a very quiet bird, at least for now! Adopters should consider that birds' personalities change after they establish a sense of residence and will probably become more vocal. But for now she doesn't make a peep. Boo boo won't be in foster long though because of her wonderful disposition and potential. If you can offer her a wonderful home, please consider Boo Boo to become part of your family!
