My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Mozart and I am a 3 year old male Chihuahua / Rat Terrier mix. I was originally turned in to the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in Ottawa KS as I had been running at large in a rural area and it took weeks for the property owner to catch me. I was at the shelter until my foster mom, Laura, asked the shelter who would benefit from foster care and they said me. I went to Laura’s house and wasn’t at all sure what was going to happen there but I am finding out that living with Laura and her canine kids is pretty OK. The first week I was very scared, afraid, and sad. I was OK with her dogs but I didn’t know what to make of Laura. She gave me plenty of space and time and I am quickly coming around. She kept a leash on me all last week so that it would be easier to catch me and today I graduated! I don’t have to drag the leash around the house and the back yard because I don’t run away from Laura. I watched her with the other dogs and saw that they all liked her and wanted to spend time with her and that made me want to spend time with her too. She said that I have been a good boy at keeping my crate dry and not having any potty accidents in the house. She says that I have to be neutered before I can go home with you. I am not sure exactly what that means but I trust her that everything will be OK. I am current on vaccinations and will also be micro-chipped before I join your family. I would prefer to be in a quiet adult home. I also would like patient adult(s) that understand that when I join a new family, I might have a setback and may have to learn to trust you. I like other dogs but will be fine either way - as an only dog or with another dog – as long as that dog wants to have a buddy! My foster mom, Laura, will be bringing me to adoption events on Saturdays from Noon to 3PM at PetSmart at 115th & Metcalf in Overland Park KS . If you have any questions about me that weren’t addressed above, please email Laura at laura.k9s4me@gmail.com. Thanks for your interest in adopting a homeless animal.
