Here is what else Sadie’s foster family had to say:
We were very impressed with how friendly and calm she was when meeting strangers on her walks and at the front door. She just rubs up against them and wags her tail frantically. No shyness with anyone. She seems genuinely happy to meet any new people and approaches them without hesitation. She gets along well with all dogs during her walks. She’s really learned how to handle all the different types of dogs she encounters. It is always fun to meet new people and dogs with Sadie because I know she’ll behave properly and make new friends.
Sadie is adjusting well to our foster home. She has lots of energy, a healthy appetite and is very playful. We started teaching her to “sit” and she picked that up very well. She is now learning “down”, “stay” and “come”. She is very smart and picks up on her commands quite easily, but still needs time in becoming more obedient. She always immediately stops what she’s doing as soon as we say “uh uh”.
She’s very obedient and is quickly learning the rules of the house. Sadie is now completely house trained. She also has no problem going in her crate. We’ve trained her so that she always gets little treats when she goes in, so now she’s actually eager to go in her crate when we tell her to. She sleeps in the crate at night.
I also wanted to emphasize how quiet she is while we’re home. The only time she really barks is when we leave the house or from the time we get in the house until we let her out of her crate (but that’s to be expected). She’s much quieter than our 6-year old cockapoo who barks at any noise outside or when someone is at the door. I wish she could teach Lizzy these tricks.
She is a very agreeable dog.
Sadie loves to be outside, playing ball and taking walks. She’s very athletic (the vet seemed impressed with her healthy slow heart rate) and has a blast sprinting circles around our backyard! She loves to chew on her Nylabone and rope toy. She likes taking naps on the couch with us when we watch TV, snuggling into a ball or stretching her legs out. She loves treats too, and responds well to training.
Sadie definitely needs a home with a backyard to run, play, and “relieve” herself in. She’ll need someone who can take the time to walk her, play with her. She is very sweet and smart. I wouldn’t say she needs any special care as she’s very content to keep herself occupied with her bone or snooze and snuggle during the day.
