Trixie's Story...
Trixie's a people pleasing pup! Her jet-black fur shines with health and almost has a purple sheen to it! She's a happy girl who we rescued from a local high-kill shelter. Trixie's a dachshund mix and has the long body and short legs to prove it! She currently needs heartworm medication (paid for by Homeless Pets). Full recovery is expected. She shows no outward signs of the condition and it's not contagious. Heartworm is all too common and is caused by mosquitoes. It's diagnosed by a simple blood test and is avoidable if owners give monthly preventatives. Don't let this little blip cause you to pass over this sweet little dog who'll be your loving and loyal friend for life! Trixie's around 2 years young so has many, many more years of fun ahead of her! Email adoptions@homelesspets.com for more info or drop by 1343 Gresham Rd, Marietta 30062 (Mon-Thurs 8-8, Fri 8-3) to meet her! Fax applications (found at homelesspets.com/adoptions) to 770-971-0100.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Trixie, a Marietta Dachshund/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Labrador Retriever for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Dachshund/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Dachshund/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
