My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

KANGA: Foster or Adopted Wanted ASAP!!

Kanga is a 2 yr. old, 45 pound Basenji mix female. Kanga was rescued off the streets of Syracuse by a good samaritan who brought Kanga into her home, had her vetted, and has cared for her for several months. Kanga was found in a pretty rough shape; her fur was thin and missing in parts, she had obviously had a litter of puppies (no puppies were found with her despite and extensive search), and she was incredibly thin. Kanga's rescuer has nursed her to health and she is now a healthy, happy, and active girl!
Kanga is very affectionate and responds well to positive reinforcement. She has been through a lot in her young life. She is now thriving under a stable routine and with clear boundaries and expectations. Kanga is playful and energetic and would make an excellent running, jogging, or hiking partner for an active adopter. Kanga's rescuer has worked with a positive reinforcement trainer and she is a quick and eager learner. Kanga is currently practicing 'sit' on command, leash walking with a gentle leader, and she's learning that it's inappropriate to jump on people (did I mention that she LOVES people!).

Kanga is housebroken, spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and treated with heartworm and flea preventative.

LGR is a foster based rescue, which means that our adoptable dogs live in foster homes. Because they live with us, we know the habits, needs, temperament, and level of training of our dogs. To adopt an LGR dog, we ask that you first submit an adoption application (link below). When we receive your application, we will review and respond via email within 7 days. Our adoption process does more than screen applicants; it allows us to work with adopters to properly match our dogs with their forever homes. Each LGR dog is spayed/neutered, vaccinated (rabies, bordatella, DHLPP), heartworm tested (age appropriate), microchipped, and treated with heartworm and flea preventative.
