My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Read more about me here:

Liam had lived his entire life with a young woman who loved and cared for him. But when her lifestyle and her schedule changed, she felt that Liam would be happier in a home where he could get more attention and more opportunity to run and play. Unfortunately, Liam didn’t understand that the changes he was experiencing were for his own good. When he first arrived at his foster home he was nervous, skittish and highly reactive to the man in the house. He paced, he barked, he was unhappy. But all wounds heal in time, and Liam has adjusted to his new circumstances. He has even come to accept his foster dad and could live happily in a forever home that included either men or women or both. He is ready to start a new phase in his life.

It is easy to see why Liam’s original owner wanted him to have more opportunities for play. This is one playful, fun-loving collie. He views almost everything as a potential toy and can have just as much fun tearing up a cardboard box as chasing after a tennis ball. His foster home is rich with toys, and every night Liam hauls them all out and scatters them around the living room, looking for his favorite: a rubber chicken that crows when he tosses it into the air. He never tires of playing his own game of chicken!

Liam is a well mannered, obedient boy who knows a variety of commands including “sit,” “wait,” “stay,” etc. He is fully house trained, has good recall and loves to be around people so he never ventures far from his foster family’s side. Although he hasn’t lived with children, he would probably be good with older kids who would enjoy his rough and tumble style of play. Younger children might be intimidated by his energy. He has not been exposed to cats, though he has shown signs of herding behavior (he tried to herd some Canadian geese on the lake), so he might want to chase or herd kitties.

Liam is a happy, affectionate collie who is very smart and eager to please. According to his original owner, he has a particular love for butter and will do anything that is asked of him for a little butter pat. He has lots of energy and loves to run and chase, so a fenced yard would be ideal. His combination of energy, intelligence and grace would make him a great candidate for agility, fly ball or herding training or he would be a great companion for a runner, a cyclist or a cross country skier. He even has his own back-pack – have pack, will travel!

Liam is looking for a forever home with an active family that will include him in their activities. He would love to have another energetic dog or older children to play with, but he would also do well with a single person or a couple who would give him plenty of opportunities run and explore. He may need a little time to make the transition to a new home, but this fun-loving, playful boy is well worth the wait.
