Walter's Story...
From Walter's foster Dad..... Sir Walter is a very regal 3yr old, 55 pound, English Bulldog/Pit Bull mix…such an impressive dog!! With a very muscular & intimidating appearance, you’d never know what a teddy bear this boy really is. He wants nothing more than to be right there with you all day, ready for the occasional chest & belly rub when you have time.

Walter gets along well with other dogs and loves everyone he meets. He walks well on a leash, he’s crate trained and we’re working on house training…he doesn’t tear stuff up but doesn’t quite understand how much better it is to go potty outside! The upcoming neuter, as well as ongoing training, will help with this marking behavior. Such a sweet boy, Walter really aims to please… he loves nothing more than to make you smile. He loves whole-heartedly as you can see every time you walk into the room and his entire body starts wagging so hard you think his tail is going to fly off! He’s a real character!

Walter was dumped in our neighborhood by his previous owners. I just don’t understand how someone could have taken care of him so well for the past few years only to open the car door, kick him out and drive away! He was waiting in the same spot for them all day until I went to pick him up. Can you please give Walter the good home he deserves? I promise he’ll reward you for it every time you look into his eyes! If you are interested in him please go to our website at www.forgottendogs.org and fill out an adoption application or email His foster dad at kmiller@therealestatechoice.com. Be sure to specify that you are looking for Sir Walter!!! Thanks!

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
We rescue in a low income area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project about a year ago to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 250 dogs and a few cats from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. Our website is forgottendogs.org and we are a 501c3.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We do not have a regular adoption site at this time, but stay tuned to our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/ForgottenDogs5) for our upcoming events!
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee ranges from $100 to $150. We have an online application and a contract and all dogs/puppies are either spayed/neutered prior to adoption if old enough or arrangements are made to have them spayed/neutered afterwards.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Walter, a Porter English Bulldog/American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English Bulldog/American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Porter, or seeking a English Bulldog/American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Porter.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Porter already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Porter breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English Bulldog/American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with English Bulldog/American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Porter paves the way for another one to be saved.
