Harriet is a one-and-a-half-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. She weighs about 8 lbs. Harriet is an upbeat, happy, and affectionate tail wagging sweetheart. She is always happy to see you and is always vigorously wagging her tail. She is very social and greets all guests. To put it simply, Harriet is adorable. Harriet gets along great with all other dogs, both large and small. She can chill on a pet bed with the other dogs, or play with another playful dog, either with toys, wrestling, or chasing each other around. Harriet is potty-trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and knows how to use the doggie door. She is crate-trained but as of late, sleeps on either a human bed or on a pet bed during the night. She is not a barker nor is she destructive (like any dog, she does bark occasionally, but not worth mentioning). Harriet rides well in the car and is a great companion dog all around. She is very well behaved in public. Harriet is a true sweetheart and a gem of a dog who loves people and gives sweet kisses. Her best home would be in a home with another dog to hang out with and be her friend, either boy or girl. Harriet especially loves the sisterhood of other girl dogs!
Harriet was initially diagnosed with Grade 1 Luxating Patellas. It is a condition where the back kneecap slips occasionally, and is quite common in toy and smaller breeds. We felt that it would help Harriet’s adoption to surgically correct both knees (the first surgery for the right knee was performed 08/29/12 and the second surgery for the left knee was performed on 11/08/12). Harriet’s knee caps are now firmly resting into a deeper socket and she is doing fantastic. Though she was very capable of running around and playing chase before, her knee caps now no longer slip. We wish to find a home for Harriet where there is another dog in the home who can be her friend and playmate. We just love Harriet to death! Every single person who has met her has seen her as captivating and adorable! (We can easily provide extensive video coverage showing Harriet running around full speed if one wishes to view those videos.)
Harriet is spayed, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Harriet please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com or: 626-340-9316. E-mail is preferable. If you prefer to phone the rescue, please ensure that you have read the dog’s bio and have visited my website at: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com and gone to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process; thank you!
