Skeeball ~ Adoption Pending's Story...
Skee-ball is the most special dog we have. He is sweet, loving, adorable and well behaved. And for his start in life, that is amazing. Skee-ball was found at a local street fair in July 2012. Several angels took him in and called us for help. He had a very damaged eye and needed vet care. Skee-ball went to the eye specialist in Akron. It appears that he was hit very hard in the eye and it permanently damaged his eye. He is 100% blind in that eye. He can be a little shy due to that but only until he trusts you. He has been evaluated several times since July and the specialist is very happy with the stability of his eye. He will need to be on drops for his lifetime and get an annual check up with the specialist but Skee-ball is now ready for move on with his life! The vet specialist in Akron is willing to discuss any concerns a family would have about Skee-ball and Legacy will provide his medicine for his eye for life. He just needs a family that will love him. He is approximately one year old, housebroken, up to date on shots, likes other dogs & cats & currently enrolled in a training class to make him more confident in the world with only one eye. Please consider taking one of the most wonderful dogs we have come across into your home & heart.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
Legacy Dog Rescue has two main purposes. First is rescue. We take dogs from many places. Pounds, stray & owner turn ins. We place them in foster homes then find them loving forever homes.

The second purpose is community service. Our spay/neuter program is very close to our hearts. We believe by focusing on spaying and neutering we are helping reduce the dogs that could be sent to the pound. We eliminate the problem before it happens. We also will assist financially to both dog owners and other rescues when appropriate.

We currently run a food assistance program to help dog owners that are struggling to feed their pets due to economic hardship. We are always accepting dog and cat food, or gift cards to help us keep food on hand.

Legacy Dog Rescue is located out of Mahoning County, but works closely with Trumbull County. We do not have a shelter, all of our dogs reside in foster homes (and we are always looking for more foster homes).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Skeeball ~ Adoption Pending, a Youngstown Australian Cattle Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Cattle Dog for sale in Youngstown, or seeking a Australian Cattle Dog dog from a breeder in Youngstown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngstown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngstown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Cattle Dog breeders who help with Australian Cattle Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngstown paves the way for another one to be saved.
